From July 1, 2026, if your company hires employees past China's statutory retirement age, you must pay work-related injury insurance for them.


What you need to Know?


1. New obligation 

You must enroll these employees in work injury insurance (a standalone option within the social security system).

2. Who it applies to 

Employees who have reached retirement age and are not covered elsewhere.

3. What happens if you don't 

Your company could be fully liable for medical costs and compensation if an injury occurs.

4. What to do now 

Review your workforce, consult your HR/payroll provider, and ensure compliance before July 1.
